The UIAA Youth Commission gathered in Bergamo, Italy for a one day meeting on 10 November 2012 to discuss a number of initiatives that will chart the direction of the commission under the leadership of its new president Israfil Ashurly of Azerbaijan.

Frits Vrijlandt, the new president of the UIAA – International and Mountaineering Federation was in Moscow in November at the invitation of the Russian Mountaineering Federation to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first ascent of Mount Everest by climbers from the former Soviet Union.

Online registration for the 2013 UIAA Ice Climbing world tour begins on 1 December 2012.

The UIAA, as part of its continuing efforts to promote the sport of Ice Climbing and youth engagement, will subsidize the expenses of athletes from member federations interested in participating in the first Youth Ice Climbing World Championship in Saas Grund, Switzerland in January 2013.
