AISTS partnership

The UIAA is an official partner with the International Academy of Sports Science and Technology (AISTS), a centre of sport education and research based in Lausanne, Switzerland. The UIAA is the first world sport governing body to enter such an agreement with AISTS. The two organisations have a longstanding relationship and the UIAA is its largest non-Olympic sports collaborator.

AISTS was founded as a centre of education and research in sport in 2000 by partners including the International Olympic Committee, the University of Geneva, the University of Lausanne, the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, the Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration and IMD Business School. Each year, AISTS offers the MSA – Master of Advanced Studies in Sport Administration and Technology, as well as conducting continuing education programmes and academic research.

In 2007 UIAA and AISTS worked together to test AISTS SportEco, a web based management tool designed for international sports federations. With the tool, federations can assess the environmental impact of their activities and find out how they can become more environmentally friendly. Read more...

Through their partnership, UIAA and AISTS collaborate on education programmes, research and personnel training. This includes each organisation providing lecturers and expertise for conferences. The UIAA also provides AISTS Master candidates internships to gain valuable experience. With its pool of Master graduates, as well as its network of founding members, the AISTS also assists the UIAA in filling job vacancies at its head office.

The two organisations also work together on sport-related research.
