Snow, ice go

This is the season for snow, ice and UIAA competitions. For the fans and athletes of our two competition sports, Ski mountaineering and Ice climbing, the next few months are full of exciting events. While Chile was first out in the 07/08 season with a Continental Ski Mountaineering Championship in Termas de Chillán in September, the events of the next months are taking place in Europe, Japan and Canada. You will find the latest competition results for ski mountaineering here and ice climbing here.

It is still possible for athletes to sign up for Ski mountaineering competitions. Those ski mountaineers wanting to take part in an official UIAA competition can find the ISMC license form here.

The highlight of the Ski Mountaineering season is the Fourth UIAA Ski Mountaineering World Championships, taking place in Portes du Soleil, Switzerland from 24 February to 1 March. The disciplines are Individual, Relays, Youth, Teams, Vertical Race and Individual Long Distance World Championships.

This winter Ski mountaineering athletes can also take part in the Singles’ and Teams’ world cup, the European Youth cup and International opens. Competitions will be held in Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Andorra, Japan and Canada. See the calendar here
