Are you living in the northern hemisphere and can't get enough of snow and ice? Then why not take the chance to try out ice climbing in Africa in the middle of July?

The German Alpine Association (DAV) and the Austrian Alpine Association (VAVO) are organising a hut symposium in Salzburg 30th March- 2nd April 2008. The event will be in the German language, and will include a gastronomy fair.

The Seoul Alpine Federation is organising the 4th Seoul International Bouldering competition, the Black Yak cup, 12th – 13th April 2008. National federations are invited to enter their athletes.

From 11 July - 30 July 2008 the Russian Mountaineering Federation (RMF), will organise a big festival of mountaineering and extreme sports. The biggest event of the Festival will be the Open Russian mountaineering championship, including an Open Women's Cup.

This weekend the second International Mountain Film Festival will be held in capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, and the town of Domžale . 46 films from different countries will take part in three categories (Alpinism, Mountains - sport and adventure, Mountain nature and culture)

If you are in Georgia between 18 February – 3 March 2008, you have the chance to visit the Tbilisi International Mountain, Adventure and Extreme Film Festival Niamori.

From the 11-18th of May 2008, climbers of all nations and abilities will come together at the International Summer Rock Climbing Meet in North Wales. The meet is organised by the British Mountaineering Council, and each federation can nominate two climbers to take part.
