The UIAA Access and Mountain Protection Commissions have condemned the development of a luxury hotel in South Africa’s Magaliesberg Protected Environment (MPE).

The Swedish Climbing Federation (SKF) has produced a sign on Right of Public Access that it will put up at crags throughout the country in 2011.

Members of a UIAA-affiliated club can now enter Peru’s Huascarán National Park without guides or other service providers. Interested parties must register 30 days before entering the park, but this requirement is not being enforced, reports the UIAA Access and Conservation Commission.

The UIAA has called for fewer restrictions on mountaineers, climbers and trekkers in Slovakia’s High Tatra Mountains, intervening on behalf of the Slovakian Alpine Union.
