New date, place for international camp in India

08 Sep 2009

The Indian Mountaineering Federation (IMF) has changed the date and venue of its forthcoming climbing camp. It will now take place from October 5 to 25 in Rudugaira Bamak in the Gangotri region.

It was originally scheduled to be held from September 21 to October 12 at Khatling Glacier, Garhwal Himalaya.

The IMF is inviting two to four English-speaking instructors-cum-climbers to participate in the International Alpine Climbing Camp targetted at Indian climbers.

The IMF will provide complete administrative support for the camp and Col I S Thapa, Principal, Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi will be in charge of the camp.

The IMF will also reimburse the instructors their economy class air fare from the port of embarkation to Delhi and offer hospitality at the IMF Complex and during the climbing camp.

The instructors are expected to reach IMF by October 2-3 or alternatively Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi on October 4, 2009.

The camp area is accessed from Delhi via Haridwar, Rishikesh, Goumukh, Gangotri, Rudugaira-Bamak. Interested climbers may contact the IMF Director at indmount[at]bol.net.in along with their climbing experiences' resume. The IMF plans to finalise the names by September 10.
