ISMC Pressnote nr 4: 26.11 board meeting, ISMC moves forward / L’ISMC va de l’avant

The recent meeting of the Board of the International Ski Mountaineering Council (ISMC) saw the new  management team take their first steps since being elected earlier in the fall in Matsumoto, Japan.

At the Board meeting, ISMC President Lluis López, presented the Council’s new structure, which incorporates a full technical department, responsible for all regulatory and technique-related aspects of the ISMC, particularly Regulations, Events Calendar, Race Organization, Competitor Ranking and Training&Development.

André Dugit (FFME), from Albertville (FR) will oversee the department as Technical Director. Dugit’s deep knowledge of ski mountaineering competitions and his strong work ethic should be a great benefit to the international sport in the years ahead.

Mr. Antonie Cina (CAS) from Switzerland will become Permanent Technical Race Coordinator, a new figure inside the technical department. Cina will strengthen the relations between ISMC and Race Organizers, while improving ISMC standards and maintaining event standards for international racers.

Sport Training and Development will also have their own commission, presided over by Jordi Canals (FEDME). Canals has extensive experience with both ISMC administration and race organizers, athletes, and officials all over the world.

The ISMC Board also appointed Judges President Carlo Ferrari (FAM). Ferrari was born in Italy but is resident and working as a mountain guide in Andorra for the Mountain Federation of Andorra.

The ISMC Board also finalized the Winter 2008 International Events Calendar and approved the new edition of the regulations. This is now available on www.theuiaa.org

Following from the restructured governance approved by the UIAA earlier in Japan, the Board has begun working on ISMC Statutes and the new concept for an International Ski Mountaineering Federation. Mr. Mariotta (FISI), who received the mandate for ISMC to prepare these statues, proposed the following working calendar for this project,  now approved by the Board:

La récente réunion de bureau du Comité International de Ski Alpinisme (ISMC) a vu la nouvelle équipe de direction faire ses premiers pas depuis sa récente élection à l’automne dernier à Matsumoto au Japon.

Au cours la réunion du « Board », le Président de l’ISMC, Lluis LOPEZ, a présenté la nouvelle structure du Comité, qui ajoute un département complet dédié à la technique, département qui sera responsable de tous les aspects liés à la règlementation et à la technique pour l’ISMC, et particulièrement les règlements, les calendriers des épreuves sportives, l’organisation des compétitions, le classement des concurrents, l’entraînement et le développement.

André DUGIT (FFME), d’Albertville (Fr.) supervisera le département en tant que Directeur Technique. Sa grande connaissance des compétitions de ski alpinisme et sa grande éthique dans le travail devrait être un grand bénéfice pour ce sport international dans les années à venir.

M. Antoine CINA (CAS), Suisse, deviendra le Coordinateur Technique Permanent des compétitions, un nouveau visage dans le département technique. M. CINA renforcera les relations entre l’ISMC et les organisateurs des compétitions, tout en améliorant les normes de l’ISMC et en maintenant la qualité des évènements en faveur  des coureurs internationaux.

L’entrainement et le développement auront aussi leur propre commission, présidée par Jordi CANALS (FEDME). M. CANALS a une longue expérience, à la fois administrative et compétitive, avec les organisateurs de l’ISMC, les athlètes et les officiels dans le monde entier.

Le bureau de l’ISMC a aussi nommé Carlo FERRARI (FAM) Président des juges. M. FERRARI est né en Italie mais réside et travaille comme guide de montagne à Andorre pour la Fédération de Montagne Andorrane.

Le bureau de l’ISMC a finalisé le calendrier des épreuves sportives internationales pour l’hiver 2008 et a approuvé la nouvelle édition des règlements. Ils sont maintenant disponibles sur www.uiaa.ch.

A la suite de la réorganisation de l’ISMC,  approuvée par l’UIAA précédemment au Japon, le bureau a commencé à travailler sur les nouveaux statuts de l’ISMC et sur le nouveau concept pour une Fédération Internationale de Ski Alpinisme. M. MARIOTTA (FISI), qui a reçu le mandat de l’ISMC pour préparer ces statuts, a proposé le calendrier de travail suivant, maintenant approuvé par le bureau :
