Monument unveiled to Nejc Zaplotnik

Slovenia's Alpine Club Kranj has unveiled a monument to great Slovenian climber, Nejc Zaplotnik, who died  on Manaslu in the Nepal Himalaya in 1983.

The following information has been provided by Franc Ekar of the The Alpine Club Kranj in Slovenia:

Zaplotnik was the first Slovene to reach the summit of Mount Everest in 1979 and the beginner of extreme alpinist skiing. He managed to stand on three mountains over 8,000 metres. He was also a mountain rescuer, teacher of mountaineering techniques and a writer.
