We hope you have noticed the new section for International Member events here on the UIAA web site. This is where you can find great international events for both athletes and amateurs. At the moment the following events are open for registration:

The Red Fox Elbrus Race festival,15-18 May 2008 offers competitions "for the real sportsmen and -women" on Europe's highest peak. How about a high-speed run to the Elbrus Peak, a snowshoe race or ski-mountaineering competition? The registration deadline is the 20 April 2008, so be quick. 

The Mountain Club of South Africa is inviting you to a Winter meet in Drakensberg, 5 to 13 July 2008. This is for anyone wanting to experience South Africa's premier ice climbing venue, Giant’s Castle, as well as do some rock climbing. The registration deadline is 31 May 2008. First-come, first-served!

Another event taking part in the Caucasus is the Open Russian mountaineering championship, 11 July - 30 July 2008. Leading rock climbers, mountaineers, base jumpers and hill runners will take part in this festival of mountaineering and extreme sports. Includes an Open Russian mountaineering championship and an Open Women Team's Cup. The registration deadline is 30 April 2008.

For the world's best crack climbing, parties and to make new friends, head to the International Climber's meet in Indian Creek, Utah, United States, from 3-14 October 2008. This is a great opportunity for two (one male and one female) young climbers from each country. The registration deadline is the 1st July.
