Scholarship offered for sports management course

25 Jul 2008

The International Academy of Sports Science and Technology (AISTS) in Lausanne, Switzerland, is offering a scholarship for one student for its internationally recognised postgraduate programme in sport management.

The scholarship for the 2009 Master of Advanced Studies in Sport Administration and Technology (MSA) will be given to one candidate who can demonstrate financial need.

All the MSA students must do an internship at a sports organisation as part of the course. Students interested in mountaineering and climbing can apply to do their internship at the UIAA's office in Switzerland's capital, Bern. In the past, AISTS students having completed a UIAA internship have moved on to work for renowned sport organisations such as UEFA and  the IOC.

The one-year course is aimed at sport enthusiasts with a university degree who want to either start or accelerate a professional career in sport management. Applicants for the course must "display academic excellence through a prior university degree, professional and sport experience, a high level of English, high motivation to work in sport and have supportive references". The course covers subjects such as management, economics, technology, law, sociology and medicine.

The scholarship will cover all course fees (20,000 Swiss francs), but not living expenses (about 1,700 Swiss francs per month) or travel costs. The application deadline is September 15. To be considered for the scholarship you must have been accepted for the 2009 MSA programme.

If you have any questions, you can find more information about the MSA Master course and scholarship on the AISTS website.
