Executive Board

President Frits VRIJLANDT

was the president of the Mountaineering and Climbing Association of the Netherlands from 2006 to 2012 He was a member of the UIAA Management Committee for six years.  He has climbed major peaks in North and South America, Europe, Russia, Africa and the Himalaya including Mount Everest. He is also an active ski mountaineer.

 

Peter FARKAS

comes from Hungary and has also lived in Australia, where he did more than 20 first ascents. He started work in the UIAA in 2002 as journal editor. He is an active rock climber and was a member of the Hungarian Youth National Team and is the president of the Hungarian Mountaineering and Sport Climbing Federation.He is a civil engineer who in the last 15 years has been the manager of several international infrastructure development projects.


Helène DENIS

is a member of the French Alpine Club (FFCAM) and a retired lecturer in economics and economic history. She has climbed extensively in the massif des Ecrins (South Alps) and in the Fontainebleau forest. Denis loves hiking, walking in the mountains and ski tours and is vice-president of the International Commission for the Protection of the Alps.



Pier Giorgio OLIVETI

is  a journalist and tourism consultant who has been a long-time member of the Italian Alpine Club (CAI). He specializes in tourism and the environment and has written for numerous journals and magazines, is the author tourist guides. He works as a consultant for tourism, planning and management of local development projects and was a former editor-in-chief of The Journal of the Italian Club.

 

Thomas KAEHR

was president of a regional section of the Swiss Alpine Club for many years. He runs his own communications consulting firm in Switzerland, specializing in corporate communications, brand positioning for companies and management coaching. His passion for the mountains took him twice to Nepal where he climbed peaks of over 6'000m as well as to Russia and Mt. Elbrus on skis. Thomas is also a dedicated trail runner finishing mountain marathons in the Alps.
