23 July to 6 August 2008, the Mountain Partnership is organising a course on “Mountain Environment and Climate Change” in Italy. The course is open to professionals with a University degree working with mountain development in the public or private sector in their country.
The course will be held in English and is open to a maximum of 30 participants. Participants coming from countries or organisations which are members of the Mountain Partnership will be given priority. Part of the course will take place in a research institute located on Mount Rosa at around 3000m altitude, so the participants must also be in good physical condition.
The organisers will make available a limited number of fellowships which will cover all costs for participants coming from developing countries and countries in transition.
The course is part of a training programme on sustainable mountain development, developed by the Mountain Partnership Secretariat together with their partners. The programme is called IPROMO – International Programme for Education and Training on Sustainable Management of Mountain Areas, and has also been linked to the UNESCO decade on Education for Sustainable Development. The partners include the University of Turin (leading organisation) and the Italian Alpine Club (CAI).
If you are interested in taking part in the course, read more about the programme and send a detailed CV to Rosalaura Romeo and Silvia Stanchi before the March 14. Please specify if you require financial support.
