Youth

Registration for a second 2023 UIAA Youth Mountaineering camp in Romania is now open. The camp will take place from 24-31 July in Bușteni, located in the southern Carpathian mountains. The activities that will be covered include hiking, scrambling and climbing.

The event is open to young climbers from 16-29 years old. Participants should be comfortable with long active days (8-12 hours) and have an overall good level of fitness. The minimum French climbing grade required is 5c top-rope, belay autonomy is a must. Participants will be split into groups according to fitness and experience level.

The camp is organised by the Romanian Alpine Club (CAR) in collaboration with the UIAA Youth Commission. CAR is offering a maximum quota of four places per UIAA member association.

These events are a great opportunity to meet a varied group of young climbers from home and abroad, make new friends, and exchange mountaineering knowledge and best practices.

This is one of two events to be organised in Romania in the summer of 2023 with CAR hosting a mountaineering camp from 27 August – 3 September in the Făgăraş Mountains, also known as the Transylvanian Alps. See details here.
